RIMOWA Taupe Connects Three Products That Solve Different Problems

Distinct Cabin is a rigid rolling suitcase clad in lightly pebbled leather, finished with palladium-coloured hardware and organised with a jacquard interior. The Flap Backpack Small is a soft daily bag in canvas and full-grain leather, with a padded back and rear travel strap. The Flat Pouch is simpler again: a slim canvas-and-leather sleeve intended around a 13-inch computer. A matching photograph should not flatten those differences.

At launch on 10 July 2025, RIMOWA listed €2,850 for Distinct, €1,230 for the backpack and €400 for the pouch. Those are dated European RRPs, not current global prices. Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia independently recorded the colour release, while the brand’s announcement is the source for the exact product list. Only Distinct was unambiguously described as receiving permanent Taupe status.

RIMOWA supplies Distinct with a fitted black nylon cover. That is sensible protection for leather exposed to wet pavements, overhead bins or an unexpected gate check, but it also hides the surface for which the buyer paid a large premium. The promised patina will include marks, not merely an even deepening of colour; anyone distressed by stains or abrasions is buying the wrong luggage material.

The backpack is the coherent travel object. Its padding and rear strap address commuting and airport use without turning every mark into a crisis. The pouch deserves more caution: ‘sized for a 13-inch laptop’ does not guarantee a particular machine will fit, and a slim textile body should not be treated as drop protection. Measure the actual device and use a padded sleeve when impact is plausible.

Taupe is at its best on Distinct because a muted stone colour makes leather grain and changing light visible. It is also the least forgiving application. A leather-wrapped case still has the fixed capacity of a Cabin, yet adds care demands and a launch price far above the aluminium and polycarbonate ranges. The colour does not make it more capable luggage.

Our verdict: Never Still Flap Backpack Small is the rational purchase for a buyer who wants the 2025 Taupe story and will use it frequently. Distinct is defensible only when patina, leather craft and rarity of material matter more than value. The Flat Pouch is an expensive organiser, not a laptop insurance policy. Recheck live prices and stock; preserve €2,850/€1,230/€400 only as launch context.
