A price tool should show its working
Luggage Index is an independent comparison and travel-shopping publication. It exists to answer a narrow, expensive question: where a specific RIMOWA may cost less after currency conversion and an eligible tourist refund—and what could make that apparent saving disappear.
The comparator normalizes public country-store prices by model and size, converts currencies, and applies clearly labelled tourist-refund estimates. It is a research tool, not a copy of a retailer catalogue.
The current editorial library contains 100 reported guides and stories citing 209 distinct source URLs. Every editorial article must cite at least two sources and show when they were checked.
Official product pages establish specifications and policies; independent publications, public authorities, archives, and industry bodies provide context. We state trade-offs and do not treat brand announcements as independent proof.
How the data works
Listed prices come from public online product listings. The site matches each listing to a model, size, country, and currency, converts it using stored exchange-rate data, and estimates an eligible tourist refund separately from the shelf price.
A low converted number is not called a guaranteed deal. Stock, refund eligibility, provider fees, card charges, customs duties, shipping restrictions, and return rules can reverse the ranking. Missing or stale values are labelled rather than filled with invented prices.

- Buying guides must print the useful specifications, rules, or dated figures in the article—not send readers away to reconstruct the answer.
- News and design stories separate a brand claim from independent reporting and explain why the detail changes a buying, ownership, travel, or design decision.
- Sources and their check dates appear on every reported article. Substantive corrections update the article review date and the underlying copy.
