At more than twice the cost of many contemporary Cabin options, Distinct did not buy more volume. It bought leather application, a less common material expression and the uncertainty of individual wear.

Our verdict: Distinct was a genuine material translation, not a necessary luggage innovation. It suits an owner who likes leather precisely because it records touch, rain and abrasion. Anyone planning to keep the cover on constantly—or to panic over the first pale scratch—should buy aluminium, polycarbonate or a leather bag that can be conditioned and repaired more conventionally. Patina is not a warranty defect or a marketing promise of evenly beautiful ageing.
